Description of the research project:
After his PhD, he joined the NSERC Industrial Research Chair in Optical Design at Laval University as a research professional under the direction of Professor Simon Thibault. He set up a modular adaptive optics laboratory to study and characterize new types of deformable mirrors as well as new wave-front analyzers and control concepts. He carries out various optical design work of a scientific or industrial nature and participates in the research activities of the Chair. He is also involved in the activities of the optical fabrication laboratory of the COPL (Centre d'Optique, Photonique et Lasers).
In astronomical instrumentation, he participated in the design, assembly and realization of the SITELLE optical component tests, the Fourier and SPIRou (spectro-imagers for the near-infrared spectropolarimeter and precision velocimetry), two CFHT instruments. He developed an optical simulation bench for NIRISS (JWST) and participated in the optical design of PESTO (OMM). He is currently working on NIRPS (Near Infra-Red Planet Searcher), an infrared spectrometer for the ESO's 3.6 m telescope in Chile.
