David Hanna
Research field : High energy physics; gamma-ray astronomy; instrumentation.
Description of the research project: David Hanna is a high energy physicist. He began his research career with experiments on elementary particles in accelerator labs but is now using the same kinds of techniques to investigate astrophysical phenomena. He is a member of the VERITAS collaboration, which operates a third-generation detector for astrophysical gamma-rays on the lower slopes of Mount Hopkins in Arizona. He is also a collaborator on the HELIX project which will measure isotopic composition of cosmic rays using a balloon-borne spectrometer in Antarctica.
