The EBEX Experiment

Hannes Hubmayr

University of Minnesota

EBEX is a balloon-borne cosmic microwave background polarimeter, which aims to detect or set strong upper limits on signals from inflation produced 10-33 seconds after the big bang. I will motivate the talk by describing the scientific goals of the project and follow with a description of the instrument, detailing the experimental approach. I will conclude with remarks on the EBEX North American Flight which recently took place on June 11, 2009 from Ft. Sumner, NM.
